2005 new years eve, i was stuck in bed doing my own countdown to the year full of chicken pox. is it true that how you spend new years eve is how you are going to spend the rest of the year? so the year started lonely does it actually end lonely for me?
this year, i had my first opportunity working first it was as a promoter then purcasher then processor and some sales job and tuition as well. so what i realised was that its more fun to work in small companies although the pay is lower, people are nicer. in larger companies however, the pay is wayy better but people can get nasty. your pay plays a huge part i guess, you get to have more post work fun, spending the money you have. which shows that money, is really important, it makes the world go round. if one was to focus his entire time making money to me he is selling his soul, having it is great but spending it with those that matter makes it worthwhile. saving it, thats important too a skill which i lack incredibly. i spend whatever i have. hence new year resolution:
1. Save 20% of every month.
2. Earn a decent income this year with a part time job (without selling my soul)
people i've met this year are mostly from hall, and a few from uni and some random people too. i've made good friends from hall like ming, jojo, alina, vanessa, jess, tingyi, mayyin and many many more. amazing people who care for me and are really great friends! people i'm gonna miss when stop staying in hall. something i'm really dreading. :S hopefully the friendship continues after i leave. besides the people in hall, i hardly know anyone else in nus something which should change in the year ahead. i should meet new people in uni outside hall. this year i met someone whom i could communicate really well with but due to some inhibitions and something stupid that connection was lost. it was purely friendship my feelings never grew unlike his hence the lost of this friendship. then someone else came along, someone whom i let go of all inhibitions for. someone i fell in love with. it was a whole windwhorl of emotions and now its come back to nothing. he wasnt the best guy around, in fact i was always complaining about him but i loved him nonetheless. i was just watching sex in the city and cariee was describing her relationship with mr. big as masochism the enjoyment of what appears to be painful or tiresome. i wonder, is this me?
new year resolution part 2:
3. Increase my network of friends
4. Get over Ben
theres the new people i've met this year, then theres the old friends. i've managed to reenforce friendships with some of them like joel whom i havent met in a few years. and while yufen is gone to china, i've been keep in contact with her more now and i'm really grateful for it. and great circle of friends that i've kept. people who are there for me and care for me. i'm really blessed to have friends like them! there are also people whom i'm starting to lose contact with. i have to keep reminding myself that i should call people occasionally to check up on them! :)
5. keep the good friends close, remind yourself and them constantly that i care!
6. count your blessings
schools up next, i've skipped so many classes this year its disgusting. time to work harder. no more skipping lessons, do my tutorials and revise my work!
7. No Skipping lessons
8. Revise Revise Revise
there was my extravagant europe trip which was wonderful and a lot of money. and mommy spent so much on me. this kinda evoked a desire to travel. so this year, i shall. i am going to save up money and go on a trip with my friends. maybe shopping or something :)
9. Trip overseas with friends
i think thats enough resolutions for this year. just under 10 is perfect otherwise it'd seem like the ten commandments
i started writing this entry thinking that 2006 really sucked. well, it didn't. it had its ups and downs, highs and lows but all in all, it was ok. i fell in love, i went on a trip to europe, i got into nus, i met great new people. even though i fell out of love or i am trying to, it doesnt all seem that bad with great with standing with me. thank you 2006. i got what i wanted (in a sense) and i'm looking forward to what 2007 will bring.
cheers!
